The Dresden guitar duo Nassler & Schneider is pursuing new directions in guitar music, far off worn-out paths. The originality of their music finds its reflection in their instruments in which are combined a number of remarkable features: 27 frets, extremely deep cutaways, and a distinguished electronic equipment. The musical roots of Jörg Nassler and Silvio Schneider go back to Spanish and Latin-American guitar music.

| They first met each other in Dresden in1986 where the two of them studied classical guitar at the "Musikhochschule". Yet is was not until 1991 that they joined efforts and started playing as a guitar duo. Nassler & Schneider's compositions testify to their remarkable talent to integrate a range of different musical influences, such as classical, jazz, flamenco, and latin, resulting in a calleidoscopic diversity of styles. During their performances they create an intensity that matches the explosiveness of fire works, putting their audience into a kind of musical trance. Their compositions are not just showcases in their mastery of all conventional playing techniques but Nassler & Schneider use surprising means of producing all kinds of unusual sounds and percussive effects on their guitars. They also play their acoustic instruments through a synthesizer system which allows for an entirely new range of sound possibilities, discretely augmenting their musical spectrum. In addition to performing in the guitar duo and other ensembles they compose music for theatre and movie productions |
