BEPPE GAMBETTA

... today is considered one of the best guitarists all over the world. Especially in North America, the place of origin of the flatpicking style, Beppe was able to break into a powerful phalanx of top flatpicking players, such as Doc Watson, Norman Blake, Can Crary, and Tony Rice. Being mentioned in such an illustrious company, is a remarkable achievement all by itself! Starting with classical training in his early years, Beppe experimented with a variety of styles, eventually discovering his love for North American flat- and fingerpicking. The musicians he performs with on a regular basis include such as Dan Crary, Rob Griffin, Meridian Green and Gene Parso (Ex Byrds), Tony Trischka, Jaques Stotzem, and Carlo Aonzo. Over the years, Beppe has been recognized for his distinctive style which he demonstrates in his own compositions and arrangements. In addition to his concerts - both as a solo performer an as part of an ensemble - Beppe teaches flatpicking workshops. He recorded an intructional video tape at Homespun Tapes, entitled "New Directions in Flatpicking", where everybody can have a closer look at his technical facility. Watching him introduce and demonstrate the different picking styles, such as the Travis style, New Acoustic, Bluegrass, Folk, Blues, Ragtime, Swing, Country, etc., is a true pleasure for all acoustic guitar aficionados.
